The mineral behind the powder

Feldspar is a family of aluminosilicate minerals, not a single grade.

Potassium feldspar and sodium feldspar (albite) differ in chemistry, melting behavior and color response. The right feldspar grinding mill keeps those differences visible in the final powder.

Used in ceramic bodies, glazes, glass and welding fluxes for fluxing action.

Inside the process

From hard feed to controlled feldspar powder

Cronus uses a closed-circuit ring-roller grinding system. Feed enters the grinding chamber, rollers create compression and shear, and a dynamic classifier returns coarse particles until the target cut is reached.

How the feldspar powder mill works

01Feed

Crushed feldspar enters after magnetic separation and drying.

02Grind

Rollers and ring reduce the mineral by compression and shear.

03Classify

Rotor speed sets the cut point; coarse particles recirculate.

04Collect

A pulse-jet filter recovers product under negative pressure.

  • Low-iron contact surfaces for white feldspar grades
  • Variable-frequency control for fineness and throughput
  • Modular drying, grinding, classification and packing

Sources and deposits

Where commercial feldspar comes from

Feldspar is abundant in the Earth's crust, but commercial feldspar requires a workable balance of alkali chemistry, low iron, consistent color and mineable reserves.

01

Pegmatite feldspar

Coarse crystals can yield clean potassium feldspar or albite after selective mining, crushing, magnetic separation and feldspar grinding.

02

Granite-derived feldspar

Weathered or beneficiated granite can provide feldspar feed, although quartz, mica and iron-bearing minerals require careful separation.

03

Global supply

Feldspar deposits are worked across Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, close to ceramic and glass production clusters.

04

Ore first, mill second

A feldspar powder mill cannot correct unsuitable chemistry. Representative feldspar testing should confirm mineralogy before equipment selection.

Fineness follows function

Choose the feldspar powder for the job

Catalogue fineness is a starting point. Confirm the final grade with a Cronus material test.

Questions buyers ask

Feldspar grinding mill FAQ

What is the difference between potassium feldspar and albite?

Potassium feldspar is potassium-rich and albite is sodium-rich. Their melting behavior and whiteness differ, so select the circuit around chemistry and end use.

What fineness can a feldspar powder mill produce?

Typical configurations cover 325 to 2500 mesh; hardness, moisture and classifier settings determine the practical limit.

Can the mill process wet feldspar?

Yes, with controlled hot-air drying or a separate dryer. Stable moisture is important for airflow and collection.

How do you control iron contamination?

We review separators, contact materials and cleaning. Low-iron liners can be specified for bright grades.

Is a material test required before ordering?

It is strongly recommended to confirm power, output, fineness, moisture behavior and wear.

What equipment is included in a complete line?

A line may include feeder, crusher, dryer, mill, classifier, fan, filter, conveying, packing and controls.

How often should rollers and rings be replaced?

Wear life varies with abrasiveness, moisture, throughput and operating practice. Inspection enables planned replacement.

Can the same line make different grades?

Yes. Variable-frequency control and recipes allow grade changes, verified by sampling.

Does Cronus provide installation and training?

Yes. Scope can include layout review, supervision, commissioning, training and spare-parts planning.

How do I request a quotation?

Send feldspar type, feed size, moisture, target fineness, capacity and application for a test-based route.
